The short version
Your journal lives on your phone. To draw a page, your photograph is sent once to our drawing service and once to the AI provider that renders it, then discarded. We do not store your photographs, your drawings, or your words on any server we control. We do not sell data. We do not run ads.
Photographs and drawings
When you make a page, the photograph you choose is:
- resized on your phone and sent, over an encrypted connection, to our drawing service (a Cloudflare Worker we operate);
- forwarded from there to OpenAI, whose image model produces the drawing;
- never written to disk, database, or logs by our service. We hold it in memory only for the seconds the request takes.
OpenAI processes the image under its API data usage terms, which do not use API inputs to train its models. The finished drawing is returned to your phone and stored only there, inside your journal.
Your words
Notes, subjects, places and tags you write are stored on your device and never sent to us. If you enable iCloud for Mement in a future version, they sync through your own Apple iCloud account, which we cannot read.
What our service does record
- A per-install identifier — a random ID your copy of Mement generates. We use it to count how many drawings that install has made, so free drawings and purchased drawings can be honoured. It is not tied to your name, Apple ID, or contacts.
- Request metadata — standard server logs (timestamp, response code, approximate region from IP) kept briefly by Cloudflare for reliability and abuse prevention. These contain no image data.
Purchases
Subscriptions and ink packs are sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment; we never see your card. We use RevenueCat to confirm that a purchase is active, which involves the per-install identifier above and your purchase receipt — nothing else.
Camera and photo library
Mement asks for camera access only when you choose to take a photograph inside the app, and for photo-library access only to let you pick one. It never scans your library.
Children
Mement is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be shown inside the app.
